Joseph Pike – Chief Executive Officer, Evofem LLC

Joseph Pike

Mr. Pike has more than 30 years of success in taking women’s reproductive health drugs and devices through the FDA process and commercializing them. Prior to establishing Evofem in 2000, Mr. Pike served as chairman and CEO of Finishing Enterprises, Inc. (FEI) where he introduced the Paragard intrauterine device (IUD) into the U.S. market and expanded the sales and distribution of the company’s contraceptive products into 100 countries. When Johnson & Johnson acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Paragard, FEI was the world’s largest IUD manufacturer. Mr. Pike created joint ventures with Schering AG in Eastern Europe and with Hindustan Latex, LTD. FEI established a contraceptive pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Trivandrum, India, which was a joint public/private venture with the Indian Ministry of Health, funded by UNFPA. FEI acquired contraceptive technologies from Johnson & Johnson and the Population Council and also established Enhance Pharmaceuticals which developed the Enhance Vaginal Ring. The Enhance Vaginal Ring was subsequently sold to Barr Labs in 1994. As CEO of Evofem LLC, Mr Pike has continued the development of innovative new drugs and devices, and has worked to make reproductive healthcare available throughout the world in both developed and developing markets.

Sean Edwards – President, Evofem LLC and Chief Executive Officer, Cosmederm Bioscience, Inc.

Sean Edwards

Mr. Edwards has more than 16 years of experience providing legal guidance to public and private companies on issues relating to corporate governance, business strategy and technology licensing. Mr. Edwards joined Evofem as Vice President and General Counsel in 2006. In addition to coordinating Evofem’s global operations, Mr. Edwards is CEO of Cosmederm Bioscience, Inc., an Evofem subsidiary. Prior to joining Evofem, he was Director of West Coast Business Development for UTEK, a publicly traded company that specializes in technology licensing and transfer. He is a graduate of Princeton University where he was a recipient of the Alexander Maitland Stewart Scholarship and a member of Princeton’s 1989 Ivy League Championship Football team.  Mr. Edwards received his J.D. from The University of San Diego, School of Law.  In addition to being a member of the San Diego Coastal Chapter of Young President’s Organization (YPO), Mr. Edwards is the former President and current VP of the Princeton Club of San Diego.

Saundra Pelletier – Chief Executive Officer, Evofem Inc., and Chief Executive Officer, WomanCare Global

Ms. Pelletier has over 20 years of experience as an international marketing expert in addition to being a published author, keynote speaker and executive coach. Ms. Pelletier is the CEO of WomanCare Global and the CEO of Evofem Inc. WomanCare Global is a nonprofit organization that seeks to significantly impact the lives of women around the world by providing access to affordable, quality reproductive health care products.  As WomanCare Global’s founding CEO, Ms. Pelletier developed the initial business plan transforming the company’s bottom line from a loss to profitability in three years. In just 15 months, she executed contracts for 7 global product acquisitions and secured start-up funding from major foundations and investors. She leads a team with extensive private sector, global public health and pharmaceutical experience to reach women in need rapidly.  Additionally, Ms. Pelletier serves on the Board of Directors for Husson University, the Willows Foundation, and Women Deliver. In her capacity as a corporate vice president and global franchise leader at Fortune 500 companies, she managed a $250 million dollar business unit, reorganized companies from the ground up and raised capital investments.   She has launched pharmaceutical brands worldwide and expanded indications on female healthcare brands in multiple countries. Her experience includes working with comprehensive range of women’s healthcare products, cardiovascular, pain management, sleep therapies and medical devices.

Wendell Guthrie – Chief Operating Officer

Wendell Guthrie

Mr. Guthrie has more than 40 years of experience in the medical device industry. He holds several patents and is responsible for a number of regulatory submissions that are the basis for current medical device products. Mr. Guthrie joined Evofem in 2009 and as COO oversees the company’s daily operations and Regulatory Affairs. Additionally, he has had primary responsibility for the Phase III clinical trial of Amphora Vaginal Contraceptive Gel. Prior to joining Evofem, Mr. Guthrie was a key advisor for Ultrafem and spent 10 years as Director of Manufacturing for the company’s feminine hygiene product, Softcup.

Helen Tran, CPA – Chief Financial Officer

Helen Tran

Ms. Tran is a certified public accountant (CPA) with more than 30 years of experience in public accounting and private industry. She oversees the financial, tax and accounting functions for Evofem LLC and its subsidiaries Evofem Inc. and Cosmederm Bioscience. She has worked for Evofem and its predecessors for 14 years. Previously she was in private practice as a CPA, and worked for Touche Ross & Co., now Deloitte Touche. Her clients have included small businesses and large publicly held corporations. Ms. Tran is an author and has taught at the University of California, San Diego and at continuing education programs sponsored by the California Society of CPAs.

Gary S. Hahn, MD – Chief Technical Officer

Gary Hahn

Dr. Hahn is a licensed physician with more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development in the fields of immunology, neuroscience and the pathophysiology of inflammation and sensory irritation. In 1981, Dr. Hahn co-founded Immunetech Pharmaceuticals and served as Senior Vice President of Research and Scientific Director for 9 years. Immunetech subsequently went public as Dura Pharmaceutical and was sold to Elan Pharmaceuticals in 2000 for approximately $1.8 billion. In 1999 Dr. Hahn founded Cosmederm Technologies and discovered that the natural element strontium (COSMEDERM-7™) is a potent treatment of itching and burning pain without local anesthetic numbing side effects. Prior to his current role as Evofem’s Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Hahn served as an Assistant Clinical Professor, Immunology and Allergy Division, in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, and the Society of Sigma Xi. Dr. Hahn is an author of numerous publications, book chapters and pharmaceutical patents in the fields of immunology, allergy and dermatology. He is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.

Matthew Reeves, MD, MPH – Chief Medical Officer

Matthew Reeves

Dr. Reeves is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He most recently served as Chief Medical Officer for WomanCare Global and prior to that served as a Medical Officer at CONRAD and as an assistant professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where his work focused on early phase clinical trials of contraceptive and HIV prevention products. Dr. Reeves received a BA in Physical Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2003 followed by a Fellowship in Ultrasound at UCSF where he earned a certificate in Advanced Training in Clinical Research. In 2006, Dr. Reeves completed the Fellowship in Family Planning & Contraceptive Research and the MPH program at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Reeves was on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was an attending physician at Magee-Womens Hospital in both the Gynecology and Ultrasound divisions. He has authored and co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Reeves has conducted research on post-placental and post-abortal IUD insertion, contraceptive cost-effectiveness, provision of family planning services in the developing world, and applications of ultrasound in family planning. He has worked in Nigeria, Japan, Malawi, Vietnam, Haiti, and Guyana. In addition to his role at WomanCare Global, Dr. Reeves also serves as a research mentor for the Fellowship in Family Planning & Contraception at Washington Hospital Center.

Chastain Fitzgerald – Chief Development Officer

Ms. Fitzgerald has more than 25 years of experience working in the field of international development and global health and spent 10 years working and living in Mali, Zambia, Uganda and Togo. Prior to joining Evofem, Ms. Fitzgerald was the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development at Population Services International (PSI). During her time with PSI, Ms. Fitzgerald led global efforts to engage with external donors and foundations raising more than $3 billion in funds and helping to double the size of PSI. Ms. Fitzgerald also maintained an integral role in the technical side of PSI’s family planning program and was the project director of a large, centrally-funded USAID family planning grant. Prior to her time at PSI, Ms. Fitzgerald ran a large-scale famine relief program, did program analysis for USAID and the World Bank, and served as a Foreign Service officer. Ms. Fitzgerald holds a Masters in International Public Health and Development from George Washington University.

Daniel Pike – Vice President, Asia Pacific

Daniel Pike

Mr. Pike joined Evofem in 2004 and currently leads the company’s business development efforts in the Asian market. After seven years working primarily on business development in Evofem’s women’s health division, he relocated to China in 2011 to open Evofem’s China office. He is now General Manager of Evofem’s China subsidiary, overseeing the market entry and marketing and distribution of Evofem’s product portfolio in the China and Hong Kong markets. Additional responsibilities include clinical trial management and regulatory approval in China for new products. Mr. Pike is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in International Relations.

Tracey Saenz – General Manager and Vice President, Consumer Portfolio

Tracey Saenz

Ms. Saenz manages Evofem’s consumer brand portfolio, which includes the Instead Softcup personal care line and the TriCalm skin relief line. Additionally, she leads the sales and marketing teams and is responsible for bringing new products to market. Prior to joining Evofem in 2010, Ms. Saenz spent 13 years in a variety of creative and strategic marketing positions in healthcare and technology sectors, marketing international consumer and business-to-business products. Ms. Saenz is active as a board member of the non-profit Girls Inc. of San Diego County. She graduated cum laude from Brandeis University.
